It's interesting to see how Tiina's love grows over time. I will show this through love songs.
Before Tiina met Reiko, her view on love was that love = heartache. When writing about that I used as an inspiration "love is blue".
When I was writing the scene where Tiina was consoling grieving Reiko, I listened to "I stand by you". "Don't be ashamed to cry. When tears are in your eyes the you are being real to me" were basically the words Tiina said to Reiko.
Understandably, Tiina wasn't interested in having a relationship. Still, when she met Reiko... "But I can't help falling in love with you".
When Tiina mistakenly thought that Reiko was a sadist, her reaction was "Die, die, die my darling".
Luckily she later understood her mistake. Then she was quickly back to loving Reiko. As an inspiration for that moment, I used "Mamma Mia, here I go again!"
Since that, Tiina's view of Reiko is "you are my sunshine, my only sunshine". I used a darker version of this song when writing book 2 where Reiko almost died. "please don't take my sunshine away".
