I am reading the Kozlov Chronicles series right now, and I love it. So, I want to share with you a little piece of a fight scene from the third book of the series, Ripped. I think it's an example of a fight scene done right. First, "Eau de Sweaty Male" is funny, second, it shows the protagonist's way of thinking. Somebody else would have described the situation differently. His unique perspective helps to see through the eyes of the protagonist. (And to smell through hi's nose.😆)
Arm opening wide, my shoulder slammed into the snakeman's solar plexus. He doubled over, like I'd expected him to. I caught him as he fell forward. The momentum of my teleportation allowed me to neatly pluck him off the ground. His tail snapped and his muscled arms thrust out in an instinctive grab for balance. I got an unfortunate nose-full of "Eau de Sweaty Male" before I slammed him against the tree trunk.
